Network Page (Overview)

🌐 Network Configuration

The Network Configuration page allows you to connect your devices to Wi-Fi networks directly through CellHasher Control. This feature is ideal for quickly provisioning multiple devices onto the same wireless network when connected over USB mode.

🔌 When to Use

Use Network Configuration only when:

  • Devices are connected via USB

  • You want to connect them to a Wi-Fi network for remote operation

  • You’re setting up new devices or clusters for wireless use later

If your devices are connected via LAN (Ethernet/OTG) or Wireless Debugging (ADB over TCP/IP), do not attempt to change Wi-Fi networks — it will interrupt or terminate your existing connections.

🧭 Device Selection

At the top of the page, you’ll find the Device Selection panel, which lists all detected Android devices.

Each card displays:

  • Device ID / IP address

  • Connection type (Wi-Fi, USB, or LAN)

  • Model name (e.g., samsung SM-F721U)

  • Status indicator confirming connectivity

You can:

  • Select all to configure every device at once

  • ✳️ Select specific devices for individual Wi-Fi setup

📶 Wi-Fi Configuration

Below the selection panel, the Wi-Fi Configuration section allows you to input network details.

Field

Description

SSID (Network Name)

Enter your Wi-Fi network name. If it contains spaces, wrap it in quotes — e.g. "My WiFi Network".

Security Type

Choose the correct encryption (WPA/WPA2/WPA3).

Password

Enter the Wi-Fi password.

Connect to WiFi

Click this to apply settings to the selected devices.

The Available Networks panel on the right scans nearby Wi-Fi SSIDs in real time. You can select one from the list or manually type your own SSID.

💡 Tip: Even if your SSID does not appear in the scan list, you can type it manually and still connect successfully.

⚠️ Wireless Device Warning

If your devices are already in wireless mode, CellHasher will automatically show this alert:

“Changing the Wi-Fi network while in wireless mode may disconnect the device.”

For best results:

  • Switch devices back to USB mode first

  • Then perform Wi-Fi configuration

  • After successful connection, you can return to Wireless ADB or Ethernet mode

🧰 Troubleshooting — “Device Not Connecting”

If devices fail to connect to Wi-Fi, Android’s security settings may be blocking installation of the Wi-Fi helper APK. This helper app is required to transmit network credentials securely to Android.

To fix this issue:

  1. On the device, open Settings → Developer Options.

  2. Scroll down and locate Verify apps over USB.

  3. Turn this off. This allows the helper APK to install correctly.

Disable “Verify apps over USB” in Developer Options to allow Wi-Fi setup helper installation.

🧠 Note: This step is required on devices running Android 10 or higher.

🪄 Example Workflow

  1. Connect all devices via USB.

  2. Open Network Configuration in CellHasher Control.

  3. Select one or more devices from the list.

  4. Choose or enter your Wi-Fi SSID and password.

  5. Click Connect to WiFi.

  6. Wait for the connection status to update for each device.
